The Government of Ghana reportedly paid a whopping $800,000 to the country's football governing body for the last two pre-World Cup friendlies of the Black Stars.

The West African nation is said to have paid the above-mentioned amount to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the last month's international friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.

Earlier today, Some Members of Ghana's Parliament who are part of the Majority Caucus called for the dismissal of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen following the current state of the country's economy.
 
It has been reported by Ghanaian journalist, Collins Atta Poku that one of the decisions which forced the group to call for an immediate sacking of the Finance Minister on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 is the $800,000 expenditure of the Black Stars for the two friendlies in September.
 
 
 
Several Ghanaians, including opposition parties, have mounted pressure on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove Mr. Ofori-Atta from office in light of the country’s current economic predicament, which has compelled government to seek support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
 
The Black Stars will commence preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in few weeks and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has submitted a budget around $25 million for the tournament slated for November to December.
 
The four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions will wrap up their preparations for the mundial with a friendly against Switzerland on November 17.
 
Ghana has been housed in Group H of the World Cup alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
