Leicester City have been relegated to England’s third tier after a heartbreaking 2-2 draw with Hull City in round 44 of the Championship at the King Power Stadium.

The result confirmed the Foxes’ drop to the English League One, leaving them 23rd on the table with 42 points and with only two matches remaining in the season.

The Foxes’ campaign took a major hit earlier in the season when they were handed a six-point deduction for breaches of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), a punishment that ultimately affected them hugely in their fight for survival.

The sanction saw them slip down the table and placed them in a difficult position heading into the latter part of the season.

Despite the setback, Ghanaian duo Fatawu Issahaku and Jordan Ayew delivered commendable individual performances throughout the campaign.

Fatawu Issahaku, was one of the standout players for the Foxes, contributing 16 goal involvements; nine goals and seven assists but his efforts were not enough to keep the club in the division.

Jordan Ayew also played his part, registering six goals and three assists over the course of the season.

With relegation now confirmed, Leicester City will look to rebuild ahead of next season, while Fatawu and Ayew face the prospect of competing in League One unless something happens in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Both players are all expected to make the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
