Ghana’s Ministry of Sports and Recreation has ended the $10,000 winning bonus scheme for Black Stars management committee members as part of new financial reforms in national team operations.
The change, announced in the build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali, is aimed at tightening accountability and curbing what the Ministry describes as unnecessary expenditure.
Under the new framework, players will continue to receive their performance-related entitlements, but management committee members will no longer be rewarded with extra bonuses. Instead, their role will be restricted to providing technical and administrative support to the team.

The move has drawn a mixed response. Some football observers welcomed the step as a long-overdue correction of excesses in Ghana football administration. Others believe the withdrawal of incentives could reduce motivation within the management ranks.
With the policy now in effect, the spotlight turns firmly to Otto Addo and his squad, who top Group I with 15 points and resume their qualifying campaign against Chad on Thursday before hosting Mali in Accra four days later.
