Division One League outfit VC Warriors have been declared winners of the MTN FA Cup round of 64 game after winning a protest against Young Apostles FC.

The Wenchi-based club filed a protest to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) against Young Apostles FC for fielding an unqualified player in the above-mentioned fixture.

The Disciplinary Committee of the GFA on Thursday, December 28, 2023 announced that Young Apostles FC player, Abdul-Karim Mohammed was deemed unqualified to feature for the club based on the change of identity.

VC Warriors insisted in their protest to the football governing body that Young Apostles FC have forged the identity of Abdul-Karim Mohammed, who previously played for Nkoranza Warriors (now Berekum City) as Hakim Mohammed from 2017/18 season to 2020/21 season and was acquired by Young Apostles FC following the expiration of his contract at Nkoranza Warriors (now Berekum City).

He also featured for Okwahu United during the 2020/21 season with a different identity and was later sold to Techiman Konda FC and changed his identity to Abdul-Karim Mohammed before joining Young Apostle FC once again.

According to the Disciplinary Committee, Young Apostles registered the player to feature in the 2023/24 season as Abdul Hakim Mohammed.

The player and all the three clubs involved namely Young Apostles, Okwahu United and Techiman Konda FC have all been refered to the GFA Special Prosecutor for futher sanctions. However, the player's license has been revoked by the Ghana Football Association.

Based on the ruling, VC Warriors have been awarded the MTN FA Cup round of 32 slot to play against Nsoatreman FC at the Nana Kromansah Park in Nsoatre.
