Randy Abbey, an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association, has expressed his disappointment with the performance of Black Stars coach Chris Hughton.
Hughton, the former Premier League manager, took charge of the national team in February, succeeding Otto Addo, who departed after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
However, since assuming the role of Black Stars coach, Hughton has managed only one victory from the three games played, drawing two in the process.
“We are not too happy; we think there has to be a lot of improvement which needs to be made. We also don’t have all the time in the world, so we need to be fast about it," he said, as quoted by Joy Sports.
“We think there’s a lot of work to be done, because we had a lot of expectation for Hughton and his team of Dramani and Boateng. Based on the fact they’ve been around the team for a long while, they could hit the ground running.”
Ghana is set to return to action in September for the final round of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers. The team will need to show significant improvement to secure their spot in the upcoming African Cup of Nations tournament.
