Black Stars Team Manager, Ameenu Shardow, has openly admitted that the national team has disappointed Ghana by failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Black Stars’ qualification hopes were dashed after a 1-1 draw with Angola in their Matchday 5 game last Friday in Luanda, followed by a 2-1 loss to Niger on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ghana finished at the bottom of Group F with just three points from six matches, without a single win.

Reflecting on the team's poor performance, Shardow expressed deep regret in an interview, acknowledging the hurt caused by the failure to qualify.

"We have let Ghanaians down by failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)," Shardow said, speaking to Happy FM. "It hurts because I can't even go home; my family is hurt just like I am."

"We have disappointed the country, and it hurts that we couldn't qualify for the tournament," he added, emphasizing the personal toll the setback has taken on both him and the team.

Ghana's qualification campaign was marred by poor results, beginning with a 1-0 defeat to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane. In a doubleheader against Sudan, the Black Stars were held to a goalless draw in Accra before suffering a 2-0 defeat in the return leg in Libya.
