The Ghana Football Association IT Director, Francis Adu, says the decision to run a 24-hour working system is to improve services and respond faster to clubs.

The move makes the FA one of the first sports entities in Ghana to align its operations with the government’s push for a 24-hour economy.

Speaking on the GFA Podcast hosted by Patrick Akoto, Adu said the growing number of player registrations made the change necessary.

“What informed the decision was our realization that we needed to strengthen our capacity and improve how we serve clubs,” he said.

He explained that the IT department changed its work schedule so staff can operate at different times of the day.

“Player registration falls under our jurisdiction, so we decided to restructure our schedule by dividing our time; having some staff work in the morning and others at different hours, in alignment with the 24-hour economy concept.”

Adu added that the system also supports the government’s wider policy direction.

“It also aligns with the President’s ideology,” he noted.

He said the new approach is already helping to reduce delays, especially with pending registrations.

“Overall, it has been very helpful, and we have been able to clear backlogs in the system,” he explained.

With more than 60,000 players registered each year, Adu stressed the need for better time use and continuous operations.

“In Ghana, we register over 60,000 players each year, so we must use our time strategically to ensure we complete the tasks assigned to us,” he added.
