Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has acknowledged that the Ghana national football team are not fully prepared for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in a media engagement with Citi Sports, the Minister pointed to a major gap in the team’s technical setup, revealing that Ghana is currently without a head coach following the departure of Otto Addo.
The Ghana Football Association is actively searching for a new head coach, with key decision-makers expected to meet on Friday to advance the process.
Despite the uncertainty, Adams remains optimistic that the team will be ready in time for the tournament.
“We're not fully ready yet for the World Cup. We don't even have a head coach, but I see us being ready by the time we play our first game,” he said.
Ghana is set to open their campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Panama national football team on June 17, 2026.
The Black Stars face a daunting Group L challenge, with England national football team and Croatia national football team also in the group, but the Minister believes the team can compete strongly with the right structure in place.
