Great Olympics General Manager Eric Alagidede says he is encouraged by his side’s performance despite their narrow 1–0 defeat to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2025 Democracy Cup, stressing that the display underlined their readiness for the upcoming Division One League campaign.
Reacting after the match, Alagidede noted that many had underestimated the Dade Boys going into the fixture. “They said they would score three or four because they didn’t know we were capable. After the first 45 minutes, they knew they were up for a game,” he said.
He maintained that Olympics contained Hearts effectively and that the match was decided by a single moment rather than overall superiority. He also brushed off talk of Hearts’ use of drone technology in preparation. “I don’t think it’s about the drone. It’s one of those games,” he remarked.
Looking ahead to the new season, Alagidede sent a strong warning to their Zone Three rivals: “What we exhibited today is a clear signal to all teams that they’ve got to be at their best to play against Accra Great Olympics.”
While acknowledging the tough challenge of securing promotion, the GM reaffirmed the club’s determination to return to the Ghana Premier League at the first attempt.
