Hearts of Oak extended their winning streak to three matches with a confident 2-0 victory over relegated Legon Cities on Sunday at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, keeping their top-four ambitions alive.
The Phobians delivered another composed performance as Kwabena Boateng and Michael Awuah found the back of the net to claim all three points. The win lifts Hearts to 55 points—just two shy of fourth place—with one round remaining in the Ghana Premier League.
Dominating from the outset, Hearts dictated play against a struggling Legon Cities side whose relegation had already been confirmed.
Boateng broke the deadlock midway through the first half with a clinical finish after a fluid team move. Awuah added the second after the break, calmly slotting home to seal the result.
The victory marks a strong resurgence for the Phobians, who endured an inconsistent spell earlier in the season but now appear to be peaking at a crucial time. They will host league leaders Samartex on the final day at the Accra Sports Stadium, aiming to finish the campaign inside the top four.
Legon Cities, meanwhile, will wrap up a disappointing season next weekend against Dreams FC, before officially making the drop to Division One.
