Asante Kotoko extended their impressive run in the topflight with a 2-0 away victory over bottom-placed Eleven Wonders in their Matchweek 15 clash at the University of Ghana Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Winger Peter Amidu Acquah and late substitute Johnson Owusu were the match-winners for the Porcupine Warriors, who produced a disciplined and professional performance to claim all three points on the road.

Eleven Wonders began the nerve cracker aggressively and enjoying good passages of possession as they chased an early opener. The Sure Wonders looked energetic in midfield and tried to trouble Kotoko with quick attacking moves, but they lacked the decisive quality in the box of Kum-Apem.

Kotoko, however, showed far greater efficiency in attack and struck against the run of play in the 16th minute. Sustained pressure inside the penalty area forced a defensive lapse, and Acquah reacted sharply, weaving past two markers before drilling the ball into the net, leaving goalkeeper Joseph Baah rooted to the ground.

The goal shifted the game firmly in Kotoko’s favour, though Eleven Wonders continued to threaten in flashes, stringing together neat passages of play but failing to convert their limited attacking openings.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with the hosts pushing forward in search of an equaliser while Kotoko managed the speed and looked to exploit spaces on the counter.

With time running out, the visitors sealed the win in the 88th minute. Left winger Johnson Owusu unleashed a fine strike on his league debut, which was beyond Baah to secure a crucial away win and extinguish any late hopes of a comeback.

Despite a final time of late pressure from Eleven Wonders, Kotoko remained robust defensively to see out the victory, recording two wins, two draws and two defeats across their last six league outings. The result lifts the Porcupine Warriors into 3rd place on the league table with 27 points.

For Coach Emmanuel Aidoo’s Eleven Wonders, the defeat compounds a difficult campaign. The Accra-based side have now registered one win, three draws and eleven defeats after 15 matches, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the table on six points as the battle for survival continues.
