Young Apostles and Dreams FC will both be aiming to bounce back from frustrating results when they meet in Matchweek 3 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Agya Na Ɔwɔ Tumi earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Hohoe United last weekend, while Dreams FC were left reeling after a sobering 1-0 home defeat to Hearts of Oak.

Match Preview

Dreams FC’s strong record against Hearts of Oak in recent years — which includes three victories and seven draws from 18 clashes since 2016. But all that history mattered little last weekend as the Phobians broke their resilience, Mohammed Hussein striking clinically inside 14 minutes condemned the Still Believe to their first loss of the campaign.

However, Dreams can draw confidence from their excellent away form, having won three straight matches on the road at the end of last (2024/25) season, including two clean sheets during that sequence.

For Young Apostles, the draw at Hohoe came with a slice of history. They became the first Premier League side to score at the newly opened 10,000-capacity Hohoe Sports Stadium, equalising in the 73rd minute to claim their second point of the season. That spirit could prove vital as they now chase their first top-flight win this season in front of their own fans.

Young Apostles

Head coach Abu Abdul Hanan is likely to stick with a similar XI after last weekend’s resilient showing. Captain Ramzy Abubakar is expected to control midfield again, while Mathias Amegbe and Richmond Coka should anchor the backline. Richmond Opoku, who impressed as an impact substitute, is pushing for a starting berth.

Dreams FC

Skipper Emmanuel Danquah will once more marshal the defence, with Ernest Appiah set to partner him at the back. Seidu Suraj’s energy in midfield remains crucial, while Jonathan Nemordeen, who has yet to open his account this season, is expected to continue leading the line alongside Charles Bartels.

Young Apostles possible starting lineup (3-4-2-1):
Masawudu (GK); Ramzy Abubakar (C), Mathias Amegbe, Richmond Coka; Ali Ganiwu, Huseine Issah, Abdul Ganiyu Muftaw, Issah Nyaabila; Samuel Prempeh, Rurf Abdul Rahman, Mobarick Zakari

Dreams FC possible starting lineup  (4-3-3):
Gidios Aseako (GK); Emmanuel Danquah (C), Adams Aminu, Ernest Appiah; Yaovi Chris Guede, Charles Bartels, Yaro Isaac, Kumah Kofi; Izdeen Mohammed, Jonathan Nemordeen, Seidu Suraj

We say: Young Apostles 2-1 Dreams FC

Young Apostles showed mental toughness in their draw against Hohoe, and the roar of their supporters could fuel their performance.

Dreams FC, while dangerous away from home, are still recovering from their deflating loss to Hearts.

We expect Young Apostles to strike first through Samuel Prempeh, with Mobarick Zakari adding a second. Dreams should reply through Jonathan Nemordeen, but the Agya Na Ɔwɔ Tumi may just win this crunch encounter.
