Having seen Junior Kaaba being released after four months and the profligacy of the Hearts attack in recent games, Hearts are back to square one in their search for a new goalscorer.

So to give the Phobians a hand in their hunt for a new striker, we decided to draw up a shortlist of options they could target this January.

Maxwell Abbey Quaye (Unattached)

Quaye is insanely a gifted footballer who possesses the flair and spark that separates special players from the mediocre players. He loves to take on defences with his dribbling ability among the best in the league. And then there are the nutmegs. And there have been plenty of them.

Along with his breathtaking consistency and reliability, he can also produce some moments of unrivalled spectacular wonder. Fortunately for the Phobians, Quaye has reportedly seen out his contract with Accra Great Olympics is now a free agent.

Yahaya Mohammed (Tamale City)

the Tamale City forward offers so much outside of goalscoring, dropping deep to link up play with midfield, as well as foraging down the channels to put pressure on opposition backlines. Pace, a never-say-die attitude, and a willingness to give 100% every time he steps on to the pitch are some of his best qualities; as his crisp finishing ability.

A hive of premier league interest is already swarming around Yahaya Mohammed

Issah Kukah (RTU)

Issah Kukah has been working his way up and building a solid reputation in Ghanaian football ever since swapping his youth club Accra Hearts of Oak for RTU in 2022. Hearts sent him on loan gain enough playing time since he found it extremely difficult to break into the Hearts team.

Now 20, he has consistently scored goal for RTU after joining them. He has now scored 5 goals in the league and 2 in the FA Cup, which could give an indication as to whether he is now ready to step up to a new level again.

Ibrahim Laar (Bibiani Goldstars)

Ibrahim Laar was heavily linked with the Phobians at the beginning of the season, but nothing came out of it and it is reported that he remains one of their first-choice strikers to sign in the winter.

Working tirelessly off the ball, Laar sets the tempo for his side, while his movement and intelligence when his side are in possession make him a nightmare to play against.

Good in the air, physically imposing, skilful and excellent awareness, Laar has established himself as one of the very best forwards in the league.

Yusif Abdul Razak (Accra Great Olympics)

A clinical finisher and capable of playing anywhere along the front line, Razak could be exactly what the Phobians are looking for. Razak has the ability to hold up the ball and link play well alongside a great finishing instinct.

Razak fits the mould of a Hearts signing. Character, charisma, arrogance and all the quality in the world to go with it. Of course, any move won't come cheap.  It is also considered highly unlikely he will leave Olympics this winter, but if Hearts came in with a tempting proposal, Razak may see it as too good an opportunity to turn down.

Emmanuel Avornyo (Bechem United)

One of Avornyo’s main strength is his ability to hold up the ball and bring others into play. In Avornyo, Hearts will get a team player, with an eye for goal who poses a danger from anywhere within 30 yards of goal.  His versatility means he can play across the frontline. Pace, power and a strong reading of the game, Avornyo would thrive with the likes of Salifu Ibrahim and Gladson Awako in midfield supplying.

Bechem United won't sell him for cheap, but as previous seasons have already showed, in more cases than not, you have to spend big to land your top targets.
