Being a professional footballer is not easy and it never was. The pressure of performing week in week out can take toll on the best in the business and result in dry spells of poor form, which ultimately results in having a barren spell and getting stuck in a rut.
In some cases, injuries can either attribute to a short period on the shelf or permanently end one’s career. Most players are not able to produce similar performances as before the tragedy.
Few footballers overcome this situation by working hard, while others try their luck in a different scenario by making a move in the transfer window.
Here, we look at six players who have resurrected their career this season.
Augustine Okrah - Bechem United
The former Kotoko man has been in great form for Bechem United this season, and has been their most important player.
With his pace, energy and ability to link up well, Okrah has been very influential for the Bechem club and is key to their season form, as he has helped the team punch above their weight. His performances haven't gone unnoticed as he has been rewarded with a Black Stars call-up.
Jackson Owusu - Bechem United
There was never any doubt about the midfielder's talent and ability, the only question mark was on his consistency. This season around he's answered those questions with style. After having a forgetful spell with Kotoko, Jackson Owusu has certainly revived his career with Berekum Chelsea this season.
Matthew Kelvin Andoh - Karela United
Time to put some credit back behind the name Matthew Kelvin Andoh. Sure, his form dipped considerably during his spell with Kotoko, but it was always going to be impossible to maintain the ridiculous standards he had set over the past years prior to that slip.
Karela had seen enough over the past years to fork out a good money for his services, and the former Wa All Stars winger finally began to earn the praise he deserved. Commanding and dominant on the flanks, there is no other winger whose mere presence is enough to leave a full-back quaking in his boots.
Abdul Aziz Nurudeen - Hearts of Oak
Last season, it looked like Abdul Aziz Nurudeen's career at Hearts could be over but he has made an incredible turnaround under Samuel Boadu this season.
Sidelined for almost a year through injury, not many gave him the chance to be a starter at the club and despite the arrival of Ushau Abu at the beginning of the season, Nurudeen, who was integrated into the Hearts team in the second half of the season has maintained his place in the side consistently.
Sulley Muntari- Hearts of Oak
After being deemed as a flop even before he took the field for the Phobians, Muntari has come a long way by answering each and every critic with style. The dynamic midfielder had been inactive for close to three years and nothing great was expected from him when he arrived in Accra.
Since his arrival, the Ghana legend has been nothing short of excellent and has been one of the top performers in Samuel Boadu's Hearts side.
Bringing vital mental fortitude, immense footballing quality and unmistakable experience, signing Muntari on a free transfer has turned out to be a superb piece of business - and one that might just prove vital in Hearts winning a silverware this campaign
Samuel Inkoom - Hearts of Oak
Just like Muntari, not many gave Samuel Inkoom to thrive at Hearts. He was deemed a 'finished article' and not good for the Phobians, especially after his former club Asante Kotoko kicked against re-signing him.
Fortunately for Inkoom, Hearts' Management and technical team never wavered in their conviction of him and went, ,ahead to sign him on much to the dismay of a section of their fans. He has since been one of the club's top performers.
While he deserves immense credit for his work rate and performances, it is his overall approach that has been the real story. Positive, calm, and insightful, he has given the club options at the right-back position.
