Highly-rated attacker, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed his excitement after rejoining Asante Kotoko and is willing to once again help the team achieve success.
The 29-year-old was officially unveiled by the Porcupine Warriors few hours ago after a fruitful negotiations and has signed a two-year deal which will keep him in Kumasi until January 2026.
The 2019 best player and top scorer of the Normalisation Committee special competition after stints with Trelleborgs FF and FC Trollhättan, all in Sweden.
Safiu first featured for his boyhood club in the 2018-2019 season, scoring 13 goals in sixteen appearances, including some spectaculars and was an integral member of the team who made it to the money zone of the CAF Confederation Cup under C.K Akonnor.
The forward’s return forms part of Coach Prosper Narteh’s aim of establishing a redoutable side to win the league again in order to secure another CAF Champions League spot.
In an interview with the club's official website, the ex- Inter Allies star revealed how elated he is for the move and is ever ready to serve his boyhood club once more.
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” he said.
“Everyone knows Kotoko is the club that I support and as a youngster it was my dream to play for Kotoko and to get that opportunity twice makes me feel lucky and ready to do everything to help the team.”
The Porcupine Warriors ended the first round of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign on the third position with 29 points, three away from the top spot.
