Former Asante Kotoko captain, Emmanuel Gyamfi, has appealed to fans of the club to give head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum more time to reverse the team's recent downturn.
Ogum has faced increasing pressure as Kotoko's league form has dipped, with the team managing just one victory in 2024.
The Porcupine Warriors have suffered six defeats in their last seven league matches, leading to heightened tensions between management and supporters.
Fans took their frustrations to the training ground on Tuesday, demanding the dismissal of the former WAFA boss.
However, Gyamfi remains steadfast in his support for Ogum, citing the coach's past achievements. "Whoever says the coach isn’t good is a liar," Gyamfi stated emphatically in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com
"I’ve met him before at the local Black Stars camp, I worked with him at Kotoko for a short period before my departure, and I know how he likes his team to play. Even after all, he won the league title in his first season with Asante Kotoko."
Reflecting on Kotoko's recent performances, Gyamfi expressed confidence in Ogum's coaching abilities and urged fans to remain patient.
"I am pleading with the Kotoko fans to exercise patience with the coach, and I believe with time, all will be well," he emphasized.
Regarding his potential return to Kotoko, Gyamfi remained discreet about his future plans, stating, "I can’t expose my contract with Aduana on air, but I am a footballer, and whoever comes for me with a good offer and terms, likely, I will join the team."
As Asante Kotoko navigates through this challenging period, Gyamfi's words serve as a reminder of the importance of support and patience during times of adversity.
