Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko are considering terminating the contract of Isaac Oppong amid the his continued injury problems, according to Oyerepa FM
Oppong, who joined Asante Kotoko in 2021 from lower-tier side Bectero FC, has experienced a torrid time at the Kumasi based outfit with injuries.
The 20-year-old winger in his debut season at the club suffered a knee injury which ruled him out of several month, leaving him to make only seven appearances and scored three goals.
Having stepped up his recovery in the mid of 2023, Oppong returned to action to feature in eleven (11) matches last season for Asante Kotoko with a goal to his credit.
Oppong underwent a knee operation on the demanged knee and expected to live up to expectations once again in the upcoming season.
However, the latest report in the media reveals that Asante Kotoko are considering to abrogate their contract with the former Ghana U20 attacker as the club is apparently growing increasingly frustrated with Oppong's time in the treatment room.
The reports add that it is based on the recommendation of the club's technical team led by Prosper Narteh Ogum and the medical team of Asante Kotoko.
Narteh Ogum's request of sacking 20-year-old midfielder Clinton Opoku was declined by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Asante Kotoko and a loan move is considered for the former Phar Rangers FC attacker.
Asante Kotoko have already parted ways with Mohammed Alhassan, Maxwell Agyemang, Charles Owusu, Dickson Afoakwa and Samuel Boateng who spent second half of last season on loan at FC Samartex.
Asante Kotoko have also bolster their squad list with the acquisition of Yahaya Dawuni, Nanabayin Amoah, Kalo Ouattara, Andrews Ntim Manu and Henry Ansu.
Prosper Narteh Ogum's side are currently in Nsuta Beposo for a pre-season training for the upcoming 2023/24 season's campaign.
