Captain of Berekum Chelsea, Prince Anane, has urged the Ghana Football Association to introduce strict traveling protocols following the tragic highway robbery that claimed the life of teammate Dominic Frimpong.

The incident occurred along the Bibiani–Goaso road at Ahyiresu as the team returned from their league match, where armed robbers ambushed their bus, forcing players and officials to flee into nearby bushes.

During the attack, Frimpong was shot in the head in an attempt to escape and was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM in Kumasi, Anane stressed the need for immediate actions to be taken to protect players and officials during long-distance travels and also suggested ideas which he feels will be very good if the FA pay heed

“My appeal to the GFA is that, going forward, there should be strict measures to prevent clubs from traveling long distances after matches,” he said.

“If the away team’s destination is more than three hours away, the team should stay overnight and travel the next day,” he added.

Berekum Chelsea returned home safely after the sad incident with the football sending goodwill messages to sympathize with them and the player’s family in this difficult moment
