Nations FC head coach Frimpong Manso says his main goal is to win trophies with the club, even as the team continues to face challenges this season.

Manso took charge after the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season had already begun, following a difficult start that led to the departure of Kasim Mingle.

After 20 league matches, Nations FC are 12th on the table with 24 points. They are also through to the next round of the MTN FA Cup, where they will take on Swedru All Blacks.

Speaking to Akoma FM, Manso explained why he accepted the job, saying the timing and location made it a good opportunity.

“At the time Nations approached me, I was free and didn’t want to stay out of football for too long. Knowing the club, I thought, ‘Okay, let me consider this job and see how it goes,’ especially since it’s based in Kumasi, and I am also in Kumasi,” he said.

The former Black Stars assistant coach admitted the season has not been easy, especially with changes in the squad and limited preparation.

“Nations has always had good players, but I think their main problem last season was their pre-season. Most of the players currently in the squad did not do pre-season with the team. Some younger players are coming in, while some older ones are leaving, so it has been a bit challenging — it feels like we are building a new team,” Manso noted.

Despite the difficulties, Manso says his ambition remains clear.

“One of my personal goals here is to win a trophy, whether this season or next. That is something I am very determined to achieve while at Nations FC,” he added.

Nations FC now turn their attention to their Ghana Premier League clash against Medeama SC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Friday, January 30.
