Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed that FIFA has imposed a registration ban on the club following unresolved financial obligations related to former Technical Director Rene Hiddink.
In an official statement dated 22 August 2025, the club acknowledged FIFA’s decision, which prevents them from registering new players for upcoming transfer windows until the matter is settled. Hearts admitted the seriousness of the situation but assured their supporters that active steps are being taken to resolve the issue.
“FIFA has confirmed the implementation of a registration ban on the club due to unresolved financial obligations. We acknowledge the seriousness of this development and wish to assure our supporters that the Management and Board are actively engaging all relevant parties, including the Ghana Football Association and FIFA, to resolve the matter swiftly and responsibly,” the statement read.
The club, however, moved to calm concerns by clarifying that current player registrations were completed before the enforcement of the ban, meaning there will be no immediate disruption to the squad or their competitive plans for the new season.
Management further appealed to the Phobian faithful to remain calm and united in this difficult moment, emphasizing their commitment to transparency, accountability, and the long-term stability of the club.
“We understand the concerns this may raise, and we appeal to our Phobian family to remain calm and united. Discussions are ongoing, and we are confident that a constructive resolution will be reached,” the statement assured.
The statement concluded with gratitude to supporters for their loyalty, stressing that resilience and belief in the club’s vision remain vital during this period.
Hearts of Oak now face a race against time to mobilise funds and settle the outstanding USD 150,000 debt owed to Rene Hiddink to lift the ban and avoid further complications in their rebuilding project.
