The lawyer of former Hearts of Oak technical director Rene Hiddink has warned that he could petition FIFA to dissolve the Ghanaian giants following their recent sanction from world football’s governing body.
Hearts were hit with a three-window transfer ban after failing to settle a $150,000 debt owed to Hiddink, who was dismissed just eight months into his contract despite being appointed in July 2023.
FIFA had earlier directed the club to clear the arrears within 90 days, but the Phobians failed to comply, triggering the disciplinary action.
Speaking to Oyerepa FM, Hiddink’s lawyer, David Winnie, accused Hearts of acting in bad faith by registering new players before the ban officially took effect.
“Hearts of Oak acted dishonestly and sneakily,” Winnie said.
“They knew the FIFA ban was coming, so they rushed player registrations. I will petition FIFA to dissolve the club.”
The ruling means the Accra-based giants are barred from registering players both domestically and internationally until the debt is fully settled.
The development poses a major setback for Hearts, who have been attempting to rebuild their squad and restore their dominance in Ghanaian football.
