Accra Hearts of Oak are exploring alternative venues for their home games following the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) decision to deem the University of Ghana Sports Stadium unfit for Premier League matches.
The Phobians had adopted the Legon Stadium as their temporary home ground due to the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium for renovations. However, the GFA's Club Licensing Committee recently rejected the Legon Stadium, citing safety and security concerns.
In response, Hearts of Oak's Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, confirmed that the club is considering alternative venues, including the Sogakope, Kpando, and Tema stadiums, to host their home games.
This development aligns with the GFA's Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols, introduced following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko supporter Nana Pooley earlier this month.
Despite these challenges, Matchday 20 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League is scheduled to proceed this weekend at approved venues.
