Hearts of Oak, the Ghana Premier League giants, are on the verge of appointing Nigerian coach Paul Osahoun Aigbogun as their new head coach.

Currently lacking a permanent coach, the Phobians are actively searching for a new trainer ahead of the 2023/24 football season. In the previous season, they underwent a coaching carousel with three different coaches—Samuel Boadu, Slavko Matic, and David Ocloo.

The season began under Samuel Boadu, who successfully ended the club's trophy drought, but he was replaced by Serbian trainer Slavko Matic in October 2022. However, discontented fans influenced Matic's departure in March 2023, and David Ocloo took charge until the season's end.

Unfortunately, the team's performance was lackluster, ending the season in 12th position with 46 points. In their last five matches, they suffered four losses and secured one draw against Berekum.

As reported by Kumasi FM, Hearts of Oak's leadership is in advanced talks with Paul Osahoun Aigbogun, a former assistant coach of Nigeria, to assume the helm at the club for the upcoming season. An official announcement of the new technical team is expected next week, with Aigbogun likely leading the coaching staff.

Paul Aigbogun, aged 51, is renowned for his coaching experience in Nigeria, having managed prominent clubs like Warri Wolves and two-time CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba.

Furthermore, the club is reportedly negotiating with former Ghanaian international Laryea Kingston to assume the role of assistant coach, while also engaging Dutch coach Rene Hiddink for the Sporting Director position. Hearts of Oak aims to bolster their technical setup to enhance their performance in the upcoming season.
