Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has attributed Albert Amoah’s strong resurgence to a noticeable shift in the striker’s mindset, describing his improved attitude as the key reason behind his immediate impact since returning to the club.
Amoah enjoyed an encouraging start to the 2025/26 season with the Porcupine Warriors before securing a short-term move to Libyan side Al-Ahly Benghazi. After spending three months abroad, the forward returned to Kumasi and wasted no time announcing his comeback, producing a spectacular overhead kick goal in Kotoko’s emphatic 3-0 win over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The victory was timely for Kotoko, helping them bounce back from a difficult spell that included two draws and a 2-1 loss to Swedru All-Blacks, and Zito believes Amoah’s renewed professionalism played a major role in lifting the team.
Speaking on the striker’s development, Zito pointed to the lessons Amoah picked up during his time outside Ghana.
“His approach has changed—his attitude has changed,” Zito explained. “When you go abroad, certain things force you to become more disciplined, and money plays a big part in that.”
He continued: “If you don’t perform, they deduct from your earnings. Because they pay you more, the approach to the game becomes very different, even though it’s still the same Amoah we all know.”
Amoah’s sharper focus, discipline, and hunger have added fresh drive to Kotoko’s attack, with the coaching staff hopeful that his maturity will continue to translate into goals and leadership as the season progresses.
