Newly appointed Hearts of Oak Managing Director Julius Ben Emunah has assured the playing body of his full support as the club continues its push for success in the Ghana Premier League.
Emunah, who was officially confirmed in the role earlier this week, steps into the position following the departure of Dr. Delali Anku-Adiamah, whose contract came to an end last month and was not extended.
As part of his first engagements, the new MD paid a visit to the team at the Kpobiman Training Centre on Thursday, where he delivered a brief but heartfelt message to the players. Drawing from his own background, Emunah told the squad he relates closely to their journey and understands the demands of the game.
“My words are very few. What I want to tell you is that I am one of you. I had a dream to be a footballer. I have played before, but unfortunately, I had to stop early,” he said.
He explained that his entire professional path has been rooted in football, giving him a deep appreciation of the commitment and discipline required to succeed at the highest level.
“I have been privileged and that is what I always say because my whole professional career has been in football, so I understand what it takes to do football, and I understand what it takes to be a good footballer. But as we know, this club and its history, if you serve this club wholeheartedly, heaven will favour you as well,” he added.
His message comes as Hearts of Oak intensify preparations for their highly anticipated Matchday 22 showdown against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium next Sunday.
Before taking up the role at the Phobian club, Emunah built extensive experience within football administration. He spent eight years working with the Ghana Football Association in various roles and was appointed Club Licensing Manager in 2020. Prior to that, he served as a Safety and Security Officer for both the GFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
His background also includes work at the regional level, having served as Deputy Administrative Manager for the National Sports Authority in the Central Region for two years, before later becoming General Secretary of the Western Regional Football Association.
Since 2020, he has been involved in several CAF competitions, contributing to the organisation of inter-club tournaments, AFCON qualifiers, the African Nations Championship (CHAN), and the African Games. A trained broadcast journalist, Emunah brings a blend of media, administrative, and operational expertise to his new leadership role at Hearts of Oak.
