Newly appointed Hearts of Oak Managing Director Julius Ben Emunah has delivered an inspiring message to the club’s players, urging them to commit fully to the team as they chase success in the Ghana Premier League.
Emunah, who officially assumed the role earlier this week following the departure of Dr. Delali Anku-Adiamah, made his first visit to the squad at the Kpobiman Training Centre on Thursday. Speaking to the players, the new MD drew on his own football journey, emphasizing his understanding of the challenges and dedication required to succeed at the highest level.
“My words are very few. What I want to tell you is that I am one of you. I had a dream to be a footballer. I have played before, but unfortunately, I had to stop early,” Emunah told the squad.
The former GFA administrator highlighted that his entire professional life has revolved around football, giving him unique insight into the demands placed on players.
“I have been privileged and that is what I always say because my whole professional career has been in football, so I understand what it takes to do football, and I understand what it takes to be a good footballer. But as we know, this club and its history, if you serve this club wholeheartedly, heaven will favour you as well,” he added.
The motivational address comes as Hearts of Oak prepare for their high-profile Matchday 22 clash against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium next Sunday, a game that could define the team’s momentum in the league.
Before joining Hearts of Oak, Emunah amassed extensive experience in football administration. He spent eight years at the Ghana Football Association, including a tenure as Club Licensing Manager, and served as a Safety and Security Officer for both the GFA and CAF. He also held key regional roles, including Deputy Administrative Manager for the National Sports Authority in the Central Region and General Secretary of the Western Regional Football Association.
Since 2020, Emunah has been actively involved in multiple CAF competitions, including inter-club tournaments, AFCON qualifiers, the African Nations Championship (CHAN), and the African Games. A trained broadcast journalist, he brings a rare combination of media, operational, and administrative expertise to his leadership role at the Phobians.
