Sudan national team captain Ramadan Agab has expressed his deep desire to play for Ghanaian football powerhouse Asante Kotoko before retiring from professional football.
Currently plying his trade with Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh SC, Agab admires Kotoko's rich heritage and reputation in African football, viewing the club as a dream destination he hopes to achieve.
Eric Amponsah, the goalkeeper's coach for the Sudan national team, shared Agab's sentiments during an interview on Kessben FM. According to Amponsah, Agab regards Asante Kotoko as "huge" and believes joining the club would be about more than financial gain.
He highlighted Agab's respect for Kotoko’s legacy, quoting him as saying, “It’s not always about the money but the name. A good name is better than money.”
"He says he has to play for Kotoko because Kotoko is huge. He said that It is not always about the money but the name stressing that a good name is better than money," - Eric Amponsah revealed.
At 35, Agab continues to perform at an elite level, having recently led Sudan to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to take place in Morocco. In addition, he has been instrumental in Sudan's World Cup qualifying campaign, scoring three goals in six matches.
