Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has hit back at suggestions that his side handed Asante Kotoko the win in their 1-0 Super Clash defeat on Sunday.
The much-anticipated clash saw Albert Amoah score a dramatic injury-time winner for the Porcupine Warriors, leaving Hearts fans frustrated and Kotoko supporters celebrating.
Despite creating opportunities, Hearts failed to capitalize, ultimately paying the price in the dying moments. Addressing claims that Hearts “gifted” Kotoko the win, Ouattara strongly refuted the suggestion in his post-match interview.
“When you look at my face, do you think I’m Father Christmas to gift something to somebody?” Ouattara quipped. “Someone made an effort to win the match. Do not disgrace that win. It’s not a gift we gave to Kotoko.”
The defeat leaves Hearts fans disheartened, particularly given the avoidable nature of the last-minute goal.
Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, celebrated the hard-fought victory, which sees them move to within three points of leaders Hearts of Lions.
Hearts of Oak now sit in seventh place on the league table, trailing Kotoko, with 19 points from 13 matches.
