Asante Kotoko deputy captain Justice Blay has called on fans of the club to fill the stands and show their unwavering support as the second round of the Ghana Premier League kicks off.

The first half of the season saw disappointing attendance figures, a trend that Blay believes has affected the morale of the players. He emphasized that the presence of fans in the stadium inspires the team to deliver top performances.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of Kotoko’s clash against Karela United in Kumasi, Blay described the current situation as a stark contrast to his early days at the club.

“It’s depressing. I remember when I first joined the club, I couldn’t believe the atmosphere in the tunnel. But things have changed now,” he lamented.

Blay made a heartfelt appeal to the supporters: “I’m urging the fans to come to the stadium and support us. Some players perform better when they see the fans cheering in the stands.”

Looking ahead to Sunday’s game, the midfielder stressed the importance of the fixture against Karela United, a team known for getting positive results in Kumasi.

“We are determined to win. I’ve already told my teammates to step up because Karela always puts up a strong fight here. We will approach the game with determination,” Blay assured.

As Kotoko aims to reclaim the Premier League title, the team is counting on the passionate backing of their loyal fans to create a vibrant atmosphere and drive them to success.
