Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has insisted he would walk away from the club with pride should his tenure come to an end, amid growing pressure following a run of inconsistent results.

The former Dreams FC and Ghana U-20 coach is facing increasing scrutiny, with speculation mounting over his future after the Porcupine Warriors were held to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Berekum Chelsea in their Matchday 18 Ghana Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. The result further dented Kotoko’s title ambitions.

Speaking after the match, Zito highlighted the progress made under his leadership, pointing to silverware already secured and the club’s continued involvement across multiple competitions.

“If I leave Kotoko today, I will leave with pride,” Zito said. “In less than a year, we have won trophies, including the Toyota Cup.”

He added: “We are still in the FA Cup, and in the league the title race is still open. Any team in the top five can win it.”

Despite the setback, Zito will now turn his attention to Kotoko’s next assignment, with the Porcupine Warriors set to travel to Dun’s Park to face defending champions Bibiani GoldStars in their Matchday 19 fixture on Sunday.
