Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang — widely known as King Zuba — has publicly declared his long-term ambition to become the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.

In an interview on Kessben FM, the charismatic and outspoken KMA boss revealed that his goal is to work with such distinction in his current position that he earns the personal endorsement of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and life patron of the club.

“I want to work so well as KMA boss that Otumfuo will one day say, ‘Bring me that young man to manage my club,’” King Zuba remarked. His statement reflected not only his deep admiration for traditional authority but also his emotional connection to Asante Kotoko.

King Zuba first rose to prominence through sports commentary before transitioning into public service, where he has been credited with injecting dynamism and visibility into local governance. His rare blend of experience across media, politics, and sports has made his interest in the Kotoko leadership role both compelling and credible.

Asante Kotoko SC, one of the most storied and decorated clubs on the African continent, is not just a football institution but a symbol of pride and heritage in the Ashanti Kingdom. The role of CEO carries immense cultural weight, representing the vision and authority of the Asantehene. King Zuba’s declaration, centered on merit and performance rather than political maneuvering or personal connections, reinforces values of loyalty, competence, and integrity.

Although the club’s top executive position is currently occupied, King Zuba’s public expression of interest could mark the beginning of a future path toward the Kotoko leadership.

With a growing track record at the KMA and a reputation for bridging the gap between political leadership and grassroots engagement, he may well be positioning himself as a viable candidate should the opportunity arise.
