Ahmed Toure, a former striker of Asante Kotoko is optimistic that Ghana's two most glamorous clubs, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak can take back the reins of Africa's best.
The Ivorian goal sniffer, in an interview with Original FM urged the Porcupine Warriors and the Phobians to put to work, believe, ensure proper planning, and be consistent.
“I expect big clubs like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to always be at their best. These are historic teams that should be making their mark at the top level in African football,” Toure stated.
The former Medeama SC cult hero's remarks come on the back of growing concerns about Ghanaian side's not performing well in continental competitions.
Both clubs have a deeply rooted and varied history, dating back to 1970, 1983, where Kotoko won the CAF Champions League twice, while Hearts of Oak secured the prestigious trophy in 2000.
However, in the past few years, both side's have been stuck in a rut, failing to make a meaningful impact in Africa's elite competitions.
“The potential is there. The history is there. What we need now is consistency, planning, and belief,” he added.
