Great Olympics came into this contest high on confidence, albeit with more to play for as their future was right in their hands.
Michael Osei and Christopher Nettey helped Olympics to preserve their top four status with their goals as Oly Dade edged past Nsoatreman 2-0 at the charged and relieved Sogakope WAFA Park.
While the ‘Efiri Tete Amanaso’ survival had already been secured weeks ago, Bismark Kobby Mensah’s men were heading into the final day with their fate yet to be sealed. There was understandable tension inside WAFA Park, as the home fans were relatively wild - keeping an eye on events elsewhere as much as they were on what was unfolding in front of them.
Olympics attacking setup knew exactly what was at stake as they did more to alleviate the concerns of their fans, and shortly (53rd minute) after recess they broke the virginity of the game through Michael Osei as they exhibited football artistry of a wounded lion.
Olympics didn’t have to wait long to get another one as star defender Christopher Nettey scored in the 62nd minute to spark wild shouts inside WAFA Park and lift the Rosalinda club out of the drop zone.
Nsoatreman midfield gonzo, Walid Neymah Fuseini pulled one back as he dinked the ball home to secure the 13th spot on the summit with 46 points, while Olympics grabbed the 15th spot with 45 points in the final match day of the Ghana Premier League.
