Nurudeen Amadu has announced his departure from FC Samartex, citing a desire to seek new challenges beyond his role with the reigning Ghana Premier League champions.
The 54-year-old gaffer tenure at FC Samartex came to an abrupt end on Tuesday, December 17, as he stepped down amidst a rocky beginning to the 2023/24 campaign.
Nurudeen Amadu's fairy-tale run with Samartex, which culminated in a maiden Premier League title, has given way to a dismal spell, marred by premature eliminations from the CAF Champions League at the hands of Raja Casablanca and the MTN FA Cup, where Gold Stars proved to be their nemesis.
"When you lose motivation or happiness in your role, it's time to explore new horizons. Wherever your path leads, giving your absolute best is essential." Amadu explained in an interview with MAX FM.
Nurudeen Amadu characterized his exit from Samartex as a harmonious parting of ways, praising the enduring cordiality of his relationship with club president Dr. Richard Diuah Nsenkyire.
"Dr. Nsenkyire is an exceptionally kind and understanding individual," Amadu shared.
"During our Monday meeting, his insights about improving the team truly impressed me. While always supportive, he never hesitated to provide constructive criticism when needed."
FC Samartex currently lie 10th on the GPL table with 17 points. The club has appointed Henry Wellington as Amadu's successor, with his first challenge coming this weekend as Samartex face Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
