Nations FC CEO Kennedy Boakye Ansah has expressed support for a proposed amendment to extend the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential term limit from two to three terms.

The proposal, backed by FIFA, will be voted on at the GFA Congress on August 12, 2025. If approved, it would allow a sitting president to serve up to 12 years instead of eight.

“I don’t think it’s a bad idea for Kurt Okraku to have a third term. That is my personal opinion,” Boakye Ansah told journalist Nathan Quao in an interview.

He added that any candidate, including Okraku, must still secure the mandate of Congress to remain in office. The amendment will be voted on by 124 Congress members at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. If ratified, it would not automatically extend the term of the current president, but would open the door for a possible third-term bid.

The amendment has gained momentum among clubs, with supporters citing leadership continuity as key to long-term development in Ghanaian football.

Since assuming office in 2019, GFA President Kurt Okraku has led a range of reforms focused on grassroots football, youth development, and the women’s game. While his administration has drawn both praise and criticism, support for his continued leadership appears to be gaining traction among stakeholders in the Premier League, Division One, and Women’s Premier League.
