Swiss tactician Nora Häuptle has inked a two-year contract with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to lead the senior women’s national team, the Copper Queens.

Häuptle, who previously coached Ghana's Black Queens, took over that role in 2023, succeeding Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo. During her tenure, she guided the Black Queens to notable milestones, including qualification for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and a triumphant campaign in the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women's Cup.

The Black Queens also impressed under her leadership in the Women’s Olympic qualifiers, narrowly losing out to Zambia in a tightly contested series.

Despite her accomplishments, Häuptle opted not to extend her contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) when her initial deal ended.

She has now taken up the Copper Queens’ reins, following the dismissal of Bruce Mwape. FAZ’s Executive Committee reportedly convened earlier today to finalize her appointment.

Before her Black Queens tenure, Häuptle served as a technical advisor to Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team during the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
