Nations FC head coach Frimpong Manso has delivered a stinging rebuke to sections of his team, as he questioned the attitude and application of some players as the club battles to steady its season.
Manso, who was appointed a few weeks ago to succeed Kasim Mingle in the ongoing season, has managed only one victory in his first four games in charge.
But Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Berekum Chelsea appeared to sharpen his frustration, prompting an unusually forthright assessment of his players’ commitment.
“Those who want to play, I will let them play, and it does not matter who you are,” he told Vision 1 FM. “If you are not serious and you don’t want to play for the team, I don’t care, but I am going to go for those who are serious.”
He revealed that efforts to unify the dressing room have been met with resistance from some members of the squad.
“When I was appointed, I tried to unite the team, but still some of the players, the way they behave, some of them are not serious,” he said. “And whether it is intentional or not, I don’t want to go down that line, but those who are serious will play, and those who are not ready to go with me, I leave them behind.”
Nations FC who are currently 14th on the Ghana Premier League table with 10 points, will hope for a swift response when they welcome defending champions Bibiani GoldStars in their Matchday 11 fixture.
