Former Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour is reportedly set to become the new Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko.
According to media reports, the former UEFA Champions League winner has been recommended by the club’s incoming Board of Directors to take up the top executive position.
The Porcupine Warriors have been without a substantive CEO since the departure of Nana Yaw Amponsah. For now, the club is being run by an Interim Management Committee (IMC) led by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, with support from Kwesi Appiah and Malik Jabir.
A newly formed Board of Directors is expected to begin work before the start of next season. The board will be chaired by James Osei Brown, with Kwasi Osei Ofori serving as vice-chairman. Businessman Kofi Amoa-Abban, founder and CEO of Rigworld Group, is also expected to be part of the board.
Once the new board officially takes office, Kuffour is widely expected to be appointed as the club’s new CEO.
The club is also expected to name a new head coach before the start of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
Kuffour enjoyed a successful playing career in Europe, representing clubs including AS Roma and FC Bayern Munich. He was also part of the Ghana squad that qualified for the country’s first appearance at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
After nearly two decades abroad, the former defender returned to Ghana in April 2009 and signed a short-term deal with Asante Kotoko. However, he retired later that year without making an official appearance for the club.
In August 2013, Kuffour was appointed as a board member of the Porcupine Warriors.
