Former Hearts of Oak midfielder, Sulley Muntari says he didn't want to disgrace himself in the CAF inter-clubs competitions that's why he didn't extend his stay with Hearts of Oak.
He further stated that the clubs management had different vision to his in terms of team development for the Confederations Cup.
Hearts of Oak were eliminated by AS Bamako on 3:1 aggregate in the second preliminary round.
Hearts of Oak will host Bibiani Gold Stars in the matchday four of the Ghana Premier League.
The 37-year-old former Inter Milan midfielder signed a six-months contract for Hearts of Oak in January.
Sulley Muntari insists that he didn't want to disgrace himself that's why he rejected Hearts of Oak contract extension.
“I had few talks with them with some of the board members I wanted to go and help them in Africa. I was with Hearts of Oak at that time and when the contract ended I was talking with them to build a very strong team. I didn’t want to go disgrace myself at the African campaign when you are going to play any Caf competition even if its Africa or Europe or something you prepare for that the players you used to qualify for the other stage of the champions league," he said on Dan Kweku Yeboah TV
"You need to get good players to add to the squad, build the team to add them so I was talking with Hearts to build a team but then of course the management had different ideas. If someone has a different idea although you tell them to do stuff but they don’t want to do it don’t push it," he added.
