Over the weekend a lot of action went on in the GPL as Medeama were stunned by Asante Kotoko at Akoon Park on Saturday, but one of the topical issues on the lips of football fans across the country was David Duncan and his sides 1-0 defeat to more fancied Porcupine side, with Nicholas Mensah firing a vital winner in the 60th minute to edge the Porcupine Warriors closer to the top spot.
Although Medeama dominated possession in the second half, it was a fair second half affair with both teams dishing out a prudent amount of threat.
What most of the Medeama fans are saying is, David Duncan should be blamed for everything; "It's quite alarming at the rate of how Medeama is sinking in the hands of Duncan, who has vast experience when it comes to top-flight football in the local terrain.' said one morose Yellow and Mauve fan on social media.
This season Medeama's atrocity started right from match day one, as it seems Duncan's tactical methodology has become extremely worn out as he keeps struggling in every game, although only six matches have been played.
His side's approach to games, vision, drive and attitude seems to have been thrown to the heinous sambisa wild fauna's as their opponents keep frustrating them with counter-pressing, pressing trigger, pinning, marking by the center backs, resting and defending with the ball, Up-back-through and positional superiority.
"Looking at it from the background that they are not players that I came to meet. As a matter of fact, we fall short in that department so even when you want to bring changes it becomes almost impossible," said Duncan after the game against Kotoko on Sunday.
“I don’t have any alternative for now. I don’t believe in left footed players playing at left-back. Left-footed players don’t play my left-back but when you come to meet a situation like that and there are no alternatives you make do with what you have.
"I could deploy him [Fatawu Sulemana] at different departments but not the left-back."
Some Medeama fans in a viewing center in Adenta-Accra were also quoted as saying; "Our weakest link in the team is our left back and if they aren't ready to improve, we will not improve''. In fact, the whole team is terribly out of form.
During their match with Kotoko - it got to a point where players of Medeama had several silly lapses of concentration. "That normally happens to young and inexperienced players," one diehard fan tearfully stated.
Medeama were not in their usual glory with high tempo runs across the flanks. I thought they were supposed to be good at these?
As it stands now, 7 points from 6 matches; two wins, four losses in a row - their darkest moment so far.
Will Medeama pick up the pieces and put on their winning boots, when they come face to face with Bibiani Gold Stars in their match-day 7 clash?
