Public Relations Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo has confessed the defeat against newly-promoted side Basake Holy Stars over the weekend was a very painful one and are looking forward to bouncing back stronger as the season progresses.

The 'Phobians' painfully suffered a 1-0 loss to the newbies- who were playing in the Ghana Premier League for the first time ever in their history, courtesy an early header from youngster Prince Tweneboa.

The defeat didn't go down well with majority of the teeming fans who expressed a huge displeasure as they believe reality is gradually dawning on them and is about time they lift the ante to turn things around.

In an interview on Asempa FM in Accra, Opare Addo, admitted they were very shambolic in the game and knows how bitter the supporters are for the defeat but assured that, the team will patch up all cracks quickly to return on winning ways.

"We don’t want what happened to us last season to happen again. We would have liked a perfect start, but it didn’t happen. That’s not what we all expected."

"But that will teach us some lessons to take forward in the competition. Going forward, we have to be much more competitive, purposeful, and stronger than what we did in the first game," he added.

"We won’t say that because we didn’t win the first match it doesn’t matter; if we had gotten the win, we would have liked it. It is painful."

Hearts of Oak will travel to Kpando to face Heart of Lions- who are lead in attack by three of their former players, in match-day 2 this weekend.
