Asante Kotoko's deputy captain, Justice Blay, voiced his disappointment over the team’s recent 1-0 defeat to Heart of Lions in their Week 9 Ghana Premier League fixture.
The Porcupine Warriors, playing at home, were unable to secure a win as Kwadwo Obeng Jnr’s goal handed victory to the visiting team from Kpando on Sunday.
In his post-match remarks, Blay acknowledged the loyalty and enthusiasm of Kotoko supporters but admitted that the team fell short of expectations.
“We know there are no easy games once you play for Kotoko, and that’s why we must be prepared for every match. The supporters did their part, but unfortunately, we couldn’t deliver on ours. We can’t shy away from that,” he stated.
Blay, a versatile midfielder recognized for his defensive prowess, took responsibility on behalf of his teammates, calling for patience and solidarity as they work to improve.
“This loss is on us, and we take full accountability for not responding as we should have. But now, it’s crucial to stay patient and support each other as we move forward,” he urged, reaffirming his commitment to help the team recover.
With this defeat marking Kotoko's second consecutive loss, pressure is mounting to turn their season around. The Porcupine Warriors are preparing for a critical Week 10 matchup against Bechem United, where they hope a victory will lift morale and improve their league standing.
