Communication Director of Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo has given the assurance that talks are currently being held to ensure their transfer ban is lifted so they could sign players to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season
He made these statements on the back of Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s decision to place giants Accra Hearts of Oak under a transfer restriction after the team disregarded a request to pay New Edubiase United FC the remaining $70,000 for the transfer of lanky midfielder Salim Adams
According to reports, New Edubiase FC agreed to write off the debt because the business had gone wrong in a meeting held in March this year between both parties, but the Phobians are believed to have failed to adhere to their side of the agreement, hence the club's insistence on receiving the outstanding $70,000.
According to Article 15(1)(c) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, the ban took effect when Hearts of Oak failed to pay the outstanding balance by the last day of May 31, 2025
What this means is that, under the GFA’s disciplinary regulations, the transfer ban restricts Hearts of Oak from registering new players both domestically and internationally until the full amount is paid.
The regulation also provides for additional sanctions such as points deduction or relegation in the event of continued non-compliance.
Reacting to the situation, the club’s Spokesperson Opare Addo admitted they were informed about the ban but added they are in advanced talks with New Edubiase FC and the Ghana FA to put things in the right in order for the ban to be lifted
"There was a transfer ban on Hearts of Oak related to Salim Adams transfer but the issue is been resolved, allowing the ban to be lifted.”
Hearts of Oak, who have appointed experienced gaffer Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and set up a recruitment committee are expected to be busy on the just-opened transfer window as they look to establish a redoubtable side for next season
