Asante Kotoko interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu has recognized the frustration of the club’s supporters following a string of disappointing results, but insists the Porcupine Warriors can turn their season around.
The Kumasi-based giants sit fifth in the Ghana Premier League, seven points adrift of leaders Medeama SC, after recording just one win in their last five matches. During that stretch, Kotoko have lost three and drawn once, leaving fans disheartened.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s encounter with Nations FC at the Baba Yara Stadium, Owusu empathized with supporters’ disappointment.
“I don’t blame them for giving up,” he said. “But I want to tell them there is still hope, and we are ready to turn things around.”
The interim coach stressed that the team’s current league position does not reflect their ambitions.
“Where we are in the league now is not where we will finish. We are going to rise, and we want our fans to stay with us until we get there so we can celebrate together,” Owusu added.
Kotoko will face a Nations FC side that has never been defeated by them since their promotion to the Premier League, with kickoff scheduled for 3 pm.
