Nurudeen Amadu has explained that a lack of motivation was the key factor behind his resignation from his role as head coach of FC Samartex.
The 54-year-old trainer stepped down on Tuesday, December 17, after a challenging start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
In his first season with the club, Amadu led FC Samartex to claim the 2023/24 Premier League title. However, despite this success, he felt demotivated and unable to continue in his role.
In an interview with MAX FM, Amadu shared that he had discussed his decision with the president of the club, Dr. Richard Diuah Nsenkyire, who was understanding and supportive of his decision.
“He [Dr. Richard Duah Nsenkyire] is a very kind and generous person who is also very understanding," Amadu said. "I met with him on Monday to discuss what he felt would help the team, which actually impressed me. Though he had been supportive, he tells me when I go wrong.”
Amadu went on to explain that the demotivation he felt within the club played a significant role in his decision to leave.
“If you are demotivated or not happy, then you’ll need to look elsewhere. Wherever you go, you’ll have to do your best,” Amadu stated.
Assistant coach Henry Wellington is expected to take charge of FC Samartex on an interim basis.
Following a 1-0 defeat to Heart of Lions in Matchday 13, FC Samartex will be looking to bounce back when they travel to face Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Matchday 14 this weekend.
