Veteran Ghanaian journalist Osei Owusu Bempah says the problems at Asante Kotoko SC are mainly caused by weak management and poor club structure.
Speaking to Luv Sports, Bempah argued that the Porcupine Warriors struggles go beyond the pitch and are rooted in how the club is owned, organised, and run.
“Kotoko’s problems, as far as I’m concerned, are purely managerial, from the ownership down to the last person who supports the club,” he said.

He pointed out that the Porcupine Warriors lacks a clear and efficient management system, which he believes prevents sustained progress. Limited investment and outdated training facilities, such as Adako Jachie and other modest venues, which also undermine the club’s development.
“Kotoko does not even have a recruitment policy. Players are brought in without thorough checks, without considering their condition, whether they fit the team’s philosophy and other key factors,” Bempah added.
He also highlighted the absence of a permanent, well-equipped administrative base, saying this reflects a lack of long-term planning and strategic direction. Bempah compared Kotoko’s setup with leading clubs across Africa, noting that modern football requires strong infrastructure and organisation.
