Bibiani Goldstars center-back, Vincent Atinga Addae has spoken frankly about the recent calls for local players to be handed opportunities in the senior men national team.
The Black Galaxies of Ghana recently engaged Nigeria in the African Nations Championship qualifiers - a perfect opportunity for the home-based players to prove themselves and vindicate those calling for their invites into the Black Stars but failed after losing the tie by 3-1.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the lanky defender feels the current local players in the Ghana Premier League lack quality and ain't fit and ready to get into the Black Stars if they are unable to qualify for the CHAN.
"If we (the local players) cannot qualify for CHAN, it simply means automatically we are not qualified for the Black Stars"
The 31-year-old has been impressive in the ongoing season having made 14 appearance so far and is one of the main reasons Bibiani Goldstars are currently on top of the league log and are not looking back anytime soon.
Vincent Atinga has previously featured for clubs like Ebusua Dwarfs, Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC. He's also had spells abroad where he featured for two Kuwaiti sides Al Qadsia and Al Shabab and Albanian topflight side KF Tirana
The experienced center-back was an integral member of the Black Galaxies' squad that won the maiden WAFU Zone B Championship in 2017 in Cape Coast
