Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has urged his players to respond with renewed determination after the club relinquished top spot in the Ghana Premier League following a 2-1 defeat to Dreams FC.
The Tarkwa-based side suffered the setback at the Tuba Astroturf on matchday 26, a result that allowed Bibiani GoldStars to climb to the summit of the league standings.
Despite the disappointment, Tanko remains confident his side can bounce back and fight for the title with eight matches still to play.
“Now our focus shifts to the next game. We must keep working hard and ensure we secure maximum points. With eight matches remaining, we will prepare thoroughly and approach each one with determination,” he stated.
Reflecting on the defeat, Tanko admitted his side paid the price for a sluggish start, as Dreams FC dominated the early exchanges and seized control of the contest.
“We started very slowly, and Dreams FC were the better side in the opening 20 minutes. In the second half, we dominated play and scored a beautiful goal, but unfortunately, time was not on our side,” he explained.
Medeama showed improved urgency after the break and managed to pull a goal back, but their early struggles ultimately proved decisive.
With the title race entering a crucial phase, Medeama remain firmly in contention. Tanko has made it clear that the recent setback must serve as motivation, as his side aims to rediscover consistency and mount a strong finish in the decisive weeks of the campaign.
