Hearts of Oak striker Asamoah Boateng Afriyie has shed light on the team’s slow start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season, attributing it to a lack of understanding among the players.

Despite securing just one win from their opening four matches, Afriyie remains optimistic, pointing to improved cohesion within the squad.

The striker emphasized that with several new players still adapting to the team's style, Hearts of Oak will need more time to gel.

“We’re now gelling as a team... We’re all keen about the team’s success, not personal glory,” Afriyie said following Hearts’ goalless draw against Nations FC.

Though Afriyie has yet to find the back of the net this season, the former Nations FC striker remains unconcerned. “I’m playing a different role. I’m not worried about the goal drought,” he assured.

Hearts of Oak’s next challenge comes against Aduana FC, a team also searching for their first victory after four rounds.
