Former President of Ghana, John Mahama believes that the Ghana Premier League (GPL) needs to be improved in order to attract people to the stadium.
The Ghana Premier League will resume this weekend after Ashanti Gold secured an injunction on the league.
The match day four fixtures will continue this weekend across the various league centres.
Berekum Chelsea are on top of the league with seven points, same as Great Olympics and Aduana Stars.
The GFA led by Kurt Okraku paid a courtesy call on the former President to lend his support to the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup.
Ghana will face Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in the group stage in Qatar.
John Mahama believes that the current leadership have brought some vitality to the game but urged them to raise the standard of the local league.
"We know that under this administration, the GFA has brought some more vitality into our football and we are all supporting this administration to make sure we move football to the next level," he said as quoted by ghanafa.org.
"I know there are challenges in the domestic League because our people are more interested in the foreign League and so people don’t come to the stadium as they should but it is normally a good family entertainment, but we need to raise the standard so people will love to come to the stadium."
